Farmington Feed in 5: Week of May 13, 2024
Welcome to this week's episode of the Feed in 5 with your host, Caryn Hojnicki, the city's communication specialist. The Feed in 5 is a shorter version of the Farmington feed, and it'll be a quick update of what's going on in the city of Farmington. Caryn?
Caryn:Farmington has a jam packed weekend coming up. First up is the spring food truck event. The city of Farmington and the city of Empire join forces again to bring you more fabulous food trucks. The spring event will be held Friday, May 17th, from 5 to 8 PM in the Stelzel Ball Fields parking lot in Empire. Bring the whole family for food and fun.
Caryn:Saturday brings 3 events starting with the fix it clinic. Farmington Library will be hosting the next fix it clinic where you can get items repaired for free. It will be on Saturday, May 18th, from 10 AM to 1 PM. Dakota County residents can get help repairing household items, clothes, electronics, and more at a fix it clinic. These monthly events help keep items out of landfills and empower people to repair things on their own. The event is free, and you do not need to register to participate. Check Dakota County's website for more information and just search fix it clinic.
Caryn:Next up on Saturday is the police department open house, which is held at the police station starting at 11 AM. There will be so much to do and see. A helicopter or 2, weather permitting, of course, cool SWAT gear and vehicles, bounce houses for the kiddos, obstacle course, ambulance, Dakota County Sheriff drone team, k 9 demo, crime scene investigation activity, and more. Finally, take a tour of the police station and enjoy some food from Bourbon Butcher and Kona shaved ice. Remember, those items are available for purchase only. The event ends at 2 PM. They are also collecting food items for Farmington Food Shelf. Stuff the Squad and trailer will be happening that same day. Bring your food items with you when you attend the open house.
Caryn:The finale on Saturday will be the VFW Steak Fry for Rambling River Center. It starts at 4 PM, and tickets are available for purchase at the Rambling River Center right now. This event is sponsored by Farmington Steak Fry Committee, VFW Post 7662. Enjoy a von Hansen grilled steak, baked potato, salad, and dessert all at a great price. If you're interested in volunteering or bringing a dessert, contact the center at 651-280 6970.
Caryn:To round out the weekend, we have a Muddy Waters adult and kid clay class. It's the final one of the season. It will be on Sunday, May 19th from 2 to 4 PM. The theme will be ceramic garden flowers. Register online at webtrack.farmingtonmn.gov. The cost is only $80.
