Farmington Feed in 5: Week of June 24, 2024

Announcer:

Welcome to this week's episode of the Feed in 5 with your host, Caryn Hojnicki, the city's communication specialist. The Feed in 5 is a shorter version of the Farmington Feed, and it'll be a quick update of what's going on in the city of Farmington. Caryn?

Caryn:

Hey, Farmington. Let's find out what's happening in your town. Little camps start this week and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from June 24th through July 31st. There'll be no camp the week of July 1st. These programs are for 3 to 6 year olds. They encourage imaginative and cooperative play. All little camps will be held at the Rambling River Park warming house located behind Dodge Middle School. It costs $25 per day and each date has a different theme. This fee includes a snack.

Caryn:

The next Music in the Park will feature Alligations this Wednesday, June 26th, at 7 PM in Rambling River Park. They are a Minneapolis House rock and blues band. They celebrate the blues music, made famous by leading Chicago based blues record label, Alligator Records. They also celebrate the classic blues from New Orleans, Texas, and Memphis from the fifties to current. Bring snacks, a cooler, a blanket, or chair, and enjoy local performers playing music for the whole family. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held at Rambling River Center, Banquet Room at 325 Oak Street. Sponsors for this music in the park are Castle Rock Bank, Dakota Electric Association, Hobo, and VFW Post 7662.

Caryn:

The Parks and Recreation department is teaming up with Dakota County Library Farmington to run a summer long geocaching hunt. Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunt that can help your family engage with the natural world. You'll be finding geocaches throughout 25 Farmington Parks and will collect prizes along the way. This program is free, and there are 3 prize levels, level 1 after 5 finds, level 2 after 15 finds, and a grand prize after 25 finds. Booklets will be used to record your finds and will be available to pick up at Dakota County Library Farmington now. Further instructions will be given when the booklet is picked up.

Caryn:

There's still time to drop off your plastic boat wrap for free collection at Lighthouse Motorsports and Marine in Rosemount. The program runs until Sunday, June 30th.
