Farmington Feed in 5: Week of August 19, 2024

Caryn:

Hey, Farmington. It's Caryn here bringing you the latest with the Feed in 5. You could still participate in the Waterwise Challenge by Dakota County. Make your pledge today by going to our website and clicking on the Waterwise news item. If you haven't heard about it, the challenge is a friendly competition between cities and Dakota County to see who could be the most water wise. Save water and money by making some or all of the suggested changes at home. You could be an indoor water saver by just turning off the faucet while brushing your teeth. You can be an outdoor water saver by using a rain barrel to collect rain water and using it to water your plants. Join your Farmington neighbors and save some water.

The Farmington Fire Department is inviting the community to their annual Fire Prevention Open House on Wednesday, September 18th from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. It will be held at Fire Station 2. The open house is an opportunity to educate the public about fire safety and preventative measures that you could take to avoid fires or other emergencies in your home. In addition, we will give tours of the fire station and fire trucks, as well as demonstrate some of the many ways we serve the community. Sparky the fire pup will be there for photos. If the weather is favorable, Lifelink helicopter and flight crew will visit too.

The parks and recreation department invites you to Rambling River Park for the last music in the park of the summer. Join us at 7 PM on Wednesday, August 28th. Rae Rusnack, aka Free Ranger, performs guitar, harmonica, and vocals to swing, blues, and rock. Thanks to our sponsors, Castle Rock Bank, Hobo, Farmington Youth Hockey Association, Marschall Bus, and VFW Post 7662. Don't forget the bug spray.
